Fire Prevention

Protecting lives and property begins long before an emergency occurs. Travis County Fire Rescue's Fire Prevention Division works proactively with residents, businesses, developers, and community partners to reduce fire risk, enhance life safety, and ensure compliance with adopted fire codes.

As our service area continues to experience rapid growth and development, effective fire prevention plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and resilient community. Through fire code enforcement, plan reviews, inspections, public education, and risk reduction initiatives, TCFR helps identify and address potential hazards before they become emergencies.

Our prevention efforts are closely integrated with emergency response operations, allowing us to apply firsthand operational knowledge to the development, inspection, and protection of buildings and properties throughout our service area. This comprehensive approach helps ensure that new and existing structures meet established safety standards while supporting the long-term safety of our residents, visitors, and first responders.
